Comforting

Comfort

It’s so strange how human minds work. So many people right now somehow are happy and content with the thought that this corona crisis and economic crisis in the world has engulfed everyone. They don’t feel alone in this turmoil. A lot of people derive a sense of comfort from these thoughts. It somehow alleviates their own pain. Finding comfort in knowing that everyone is together in this titanic is not a good approach.

I think of how even in normal times of life people have slowly developed a sadistic bent of mind where their own problems do not seem to be much of a botheration to them but instead they feel much more miserable seeing the joy in someone else’s life. It’s a foolish attitude but I have watched many with the same. They keep on trying to poke and discuss the difficulties in other people’s life and derive pleasure out of it. Their own joy seems to be directly proportional to someone else’s unhappiness.

Should this be the way to finding comfort for your troubled souls?

Stop finding comfort in the misery of others. Stop this habit of poking and discussing the troubles someone else might be facing in their lives.
Your happiness and sadness have no correlation to anybody else’s. Each person’s life journey is unique and destined. It can’t be correlated to anybody else. If someone else’s happiness bothers you it is your own naive and petty and irrational thought process. This is the most important lesson to learn in life. Do not find comfort and solace in other’s life. Find it on your own. Make your own life more important than what’s going on in someone else’s.

Stop wishing everyone rides the titanic with you. Instead, wish and pray no one should ever be on that boat. And even if we ride the boat Wish that there are enough lifeboats and life jackets available for everybody on board.

In the universe, The wrong or bad you think about others has a way of finding its way back to you. The same is the case with the good that you think. If you wish good for others and be happy the same will come back to you. Find comfort for yourself through prayers and meditation. Not through the wrong means. Be happy to be content to be sensible and sensitive to other people’s misery. Do not hold a sadistic attitude in life.
