#CoronaChronicles:- Donkey

Kaizen training Solutions

Let me tell you another one of my stories. There were two donkeys. Both lazy, lethargic, dull. They belonged to two brothers who had adjacent farms. One brother would curse his donkey each day from dawn to dusk. He would say horrible things to the donkey about how inefficient and useless the donkey was for the farmer. The farmer would abuse, beat with a stick, and force the donkey to become better. Instead with each passing day The donkey after hearing everything bad became even worse, his performance became horrible. He did not wish to do any work.

The farmer continued to abuse him and thrash him but the donkey just stopped responding. On the other farm from the first day itself, the other donkey was treated with love respect and kindness. His owner would encourage him and appreciate him. He would talk kindly and praise the donkey for any good work it did. He was given a carrot and nourishment by the owner and umpteen love. This motivated the donkey to do even better. He would toil endlessly and become very productive. People from far and near came to see this donkey. He became famous. He became a hero amongst all farm animals. He was the donkey who was even better than any horse in that area. The two donkeys’ life became so different and apart.

The only difference was how they were behaved with and spoken to. In your life especially when dealing with kids or for that matter anyone else what you speak and how you speak has a huge impact on shaping the life of the other person. Your words of encouragement and positivity and love can convert any donkey to a horse. Your praise and carrot approach can do wonders for the other person. Whereas On the other hand your cruel, negative, derogatory sarcastic comments can break the morale of even the strongest person and convert the best horse into a donkey.

Think about it. Start today Speak politely and in a positive tone with someone and encourage them rather than putting them down and insulting them. No one likes being insulted. Each person likes to be appreciated and respected. Learning to do that not only makes you a better human being but also brings out so so much good in the other person. If you really want to see someone shine or sparkle you have to be able to offer some light to that person, do not push someone into darkness.

You have to offer carrots and not sticks. Even in times of COVID when kids are at home, please treat them gently, encourage, and motivate them. Do not use harsh or derogatory language with them. The former approach goes a long way in boosting the self-esteem and morale of the child or even adults. And finally, if a person’s self-esteem is in place they can conquer any mountain.

Stay home. Stay safe. Stay put.
