A young girl would see the mirror each day. Her hair were always unkept. She would see the mirror and crib about how untidy she would look. The messy hair would ruin her beauty and make her look very shabby. She knew that the cause of her looking unattractive to many was that hair which she left uncombed. Each day she would look at herself in the mirror and realise the whole problem. Yet she never picked the comb to neaten herself up. She never ever brushed her hair. Despite knowing the problem and having an easy solution available she never chose to apply. Obviously the problem continued. Obviously she stayed shabby and unattractive and obviously the solution was in her hands. Yet she didn’t act on it.
When I write about human beings having a need to introspect and see within themselves a very important point I forgot to mention earlier in my posts is that introspection alone and realisation alone of your shortcomings without any remedial actions is a much wasted effort. I wrote a lot of times about how we always find faults in others and are over eager to show others the mirror but never bother to see it ourselves. But what’s the point of seeing the mirror and not acting on it. It’s as good as doing no introspection at all. If you peek inside yourself and find problems yet do not work on rectifying them or work towards a solution what good have you achieved? What’s the point of looking at the mirror if you do not wish to change your bad habits? The only purpose the mirror serves is to help you reflect on yourself. But a reflection without further action and corrections is useless. If you truly see within you certain flaws and faults you have to start working on removing them.
You have to wilfully each day be determined to correct your mistakes and nature. If at a point you have a realization that you are any of the following like egoistic, proud, arrogant, rude, selfish, greedy, miserly, sadistic and a difficult person to deal with then start working on self. Start working towards being humble, kind, generous, large-hearted, good, amiable, less egoistic and an easy person to deal with. The good from seeing the mirror only comes when you pick up the comb and tidy up your shabby hair.
In times of COVID or otherwise, see the mirror, see your faults and most importantly work on rectifying them.
Stay home. Stay safe. Stay put.
