Everyone is trying to show others what they are good at, and resume is one of the best ways to speak about ourselves professionally. Nothing is permanent in this world. Every day we see new things evolving. Sometime ago it was all about paper resume. Now “Video-Resume” has emerge strongly and it’s trending in the market. Video resumes is simply a way to present ourselves in front of employers/organizations in a much better way i.e. by showcasing communication skill, confidence, appearance etc. Video resumes are also called “Visume”.
Looking at some of the benefits, video resumes reflect our real and complete personality in front of those who are there to hire us. The video resume is of around 1-3- minutes which include all the necessary details that a resume should reflect. No matter what people say, but I personally believe that in a professional world; looks matter. It’ not about putting make-up to look fair and trying to hide dark complexion. What I mean is it’s very important to present ourselves in the best possible way to look appealing and convincing. So, video resumes provide opportunity to show how we are carrying ourselves, our level of confidence. And also to show how much importance we are giving to our decent and convincing looks. All of this is impossible for a paper resume to reflect someone’s personality.
There are some important tips that should be kept in mind while making a Video Resume. These are mentioned as below:
- It’s important to dress in formals like we are sitting in an interview. It gives a good impression.
- The Video Resume should not be more than 3 minutes because it’s not a movie that we have to explain everything. It should be very concise including all the necessary details.
- Direct contact should be made with the camera. Otherwise it shows lack of confidence in a person.
- The speed of speaking should not be too fast or too slow. It should be normal.
- The starting of the resume should be with candidate’s name. It’s very important to introduce ourselves first.
- The background of video resume should be properly arranged.
- Proper introduction pitch should be made in order to attract viewer’s attention on you; he or she must be compelled to speak with you after watching your video resume.
- Before concluding the video, do not forget to say “Thank You.”
Video-resume is a tool that can take us to next level when it comes to resumes. This new tool not only saves time but also makes things more interesting and digital. And we are living in digital world which makes it even more useful.
